AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2019: Everything You Missed

AUVSI XPONENTIAL, a conference and exhibition, saw around 8,000 industry and academia professionals coming together in Chicago to provide opportunities for education, networking, live demonstrations, national and international technological developments, and more.

For four days (April 29 to May 2), the exhibition showcased more than 150 sessions on automation, robotics, unmanned systems, and drones, presented by over 300 speakers.

AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2019 Highlights

Drone Tech User Track

Aside from the annual Policy Track, Public Safety UAS Track, Technology Track, and Trending Topics Track, AUVSI introduced a new series of sessions dedicated to advancing UAS deployment. Categorized by experience level— beginner, intermediate, and advanced—sessions in this track addressed topics such as building a business case, best practices for drone program management, flight operations management, maximizing ROI through data integration and management, and more.

Women and Diversity

For the last three years, the Women and Diversity discussion forum has continued to grow. This year’s forum featured in-depth discussions facilitated by leaders with a wide variety of backgrounds, encouraging attendees to tackle difficult questions and reflect on how we can help increase diversity within our own organizations. Participants then addressed ways to build careers, influence their organization’s culture, and drive change within the unmanned systems industry.

Take 5

Since making solid connections is the most important aspect in AUVSI XPONENTIAL, participants were encouraged to “take 5”—meet 5 other people to exchange ideas and best practices with or find 5 good ideas they can take home or simply take 5 from all the activities and have a complimentary snack. Take 5 took place during a break in the educational sessions.

The MAX

On May 1, participants made new connections at the MAX—XPONENTIAL’s largest networking event. Everyone enjoyed food, drinks, entertainment, games, and over 8,500 unmanned systems colleagues in one place: the XPO Hall! The MAX was the new biggest networking event at XPONENTIAL, allowing for MAXimum connections, exposure, and fun—the best opportunity of the year to engage with friends and build new relationships.

XPO Hall

More than 700 industrial exhibitors across different fields presented various autonomous technologies that helped propel industries into a profitable future. Visitors had the opportunity to directly experience and interact with autonomous vehicles, technologies, and solutions through static displays. Additionally, visitors experienced a ride-along on a safe and controlled track on the exhibit floor. AUVSI XPONENTIAL also featured partners from all over the world that helped showcase the innovations and technological advancements of the unmanned systems industry in their respective states and countries.
