DJI’s New HQ Features Huge Sky Bridge and Impressive Facilities

Drone giant DJI is building a new home base, and its design will leave you in awe.

DJI’s New HQ Will Have Giant Sky Bridge for Drone Tests

This 2018, DJI is not only manufacturing consumer drones, they are building a new HQ too, further proving just how big it has gotten as a drone-making company.

In partnership with architectural firm Foster + Partners, DJI is in the middle of building its new complex located in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. Designed to be a twin-tower structure, DJI’s new HQ will feature a giant sky bridge that will link the towers and will also be used by the company to show off future releases.

Foster + Partners, the architectural firm behind the elegant design, writes, “As the ‘heart of innovation’ for the company, the new building defies the traditional idea of office space to form a creative community in the sky.

“The twin towers combine sensitive research and development spaces with office and other public functions. The floors are arranged in floating volumes cantilevered from central cores by large steel megatrusses, creating large, column-free spaces throughout, with unique quadruple-height drone flight testing labs.”

The 194 m, 160,000 m² building will also have public exhibition space on its ground floor, a theater for product launches, and advanced staff facilities.

Foster + Parents, the world-renowned archirectural team behind famous structures like the Steve Jobs Theater and Bloomberg’s European headquarters, said that their main goal was to come up with something that will reflect the success of DJI as a drone company.

Grant Brooker, head of studio at Foster + Partners, said, “Our aim is to create a unique workplace environment that embodies the spirit of invention and innovation that has allowed DJI to lead the world in robotics and technology.”

Founded in 2006, it did not take DJI too long to grow into a top drone seller. In 2017 alone, the company made more than $2 billion and is believed to have a global market share of 70%. It is safe to say, in the drone making industry, it is a force to be reckoned with, and this new HQ and possible expansion only proves that the company is determined to maintain the market position they currently hold.
