300 Drones Swarm in Dubai, Set World Record for Most Consecutive Formations Formed by UAVs

Drones swarmed above Dubai’s skyscrapers, showing off the grandest choreographed drone light show in history to mark the 50th anniversary of the country’s police academy.

Dubai Police Academy Sets World Record for Most Consecutive Formations Formed by UAVs

The Dubai Police Academy organized a ten-minute light show using 300 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the graduation ceremony of its 26th batch of cadet officers. The said event, which took place on January 3, also marked the academy’s 50th founding anniversary.

Aside from marking the anniversary of a significant event, the drone light show earned the academy a world record. The Guinness Book of World Records has officially recognized DPA for organizing the event that showcased the most consecutive formations formed by drones in the same set. A total of eleven separate aerial patterns were shown.

One of the formations was an Arabic-written message for United Arab Emirates’ prime minister, which read, “Thank you, Sheikh Mohammed.” Images of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and that of his son Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum were also shown.

The aerobatic drone show was even more spectacular, as it was supervised by Memories Event Management, an events agency that itself has set a lot of records. The coordination of UAVs and seamless flow of the program were made possible because of them. They also made sure to incorporate UAE’s national theme: The Year of Tolerance.

The Year of Tolerance is a national vision forwarded by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of UAE. The aim is to make the nation a global center for liberality by highlighting the importance of peaceful coexistence among the 7.8 million of international people residing in the country.

Indeed, Dubai is close to achieving its goal since it has continuously provided non-Emiratis with economic opportunities, including access to education. The commencement exercise even witnessed cadets hailing from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and elsewhere, which is a testament of their cause.
